Love, Truth, and Confidence had a talk one day. Love said to Truth and Confidence, "I'm goin' away. So many people don't even care. But, if you need me, you can find me anywhere." Truth said to Love and Confidence, "B'lieve I'll make a trip. In case you need me, I'm on each 'n' everyone's lips. Those ol' lyin' tongues they’ll push me away But I'll, I'll come back another day." Confidence said to Love and Truth, "I really hate, hate to see you go, But I know your story, sometimes yes, most of the time it's no. Love and Truth, people, you can find any place, any where, any time, But you can say 'so long.' Once Confidence is gone, Nothing matters any more." Confidence said to Love and Truth, "I really hate, hate to see you go, But I know your story, sometimes yes, most of the time it's no. Love and Truth, people, you can find in disguise any place, any where, any time, But you can say 'so long.' Once Confidence is gone, Nothing matters any more."

Just a closer walk with Thee Grant it, Jesus, is my plea Daily walking close to Thee Let it be, dear Lord, let it be I am weak but Thou art strong Jesus keep me from all wrong I'll be satisfied as long As I walk, let me walk close to Thee SOLO Through this world of toil and snares, If I falter, Lord, who cares? Who with me my burden shares? None but Thee, dear Lord, none but Thee Just a closer walk with Thee Grant it, Jesus, is my plea Daily walking close to Thee Let it be, dear Lord, let it be

There was a time that I didn’t have bread, no place to lay my head I’m doing alright now in this life, four loving babies and a sweet little wife I’m doing alright now, people that ain’t no dream That hand writing on the wall, I know just what it mean Some people live and some people don’t, some will have and some people won’t Some born happy and some born free, I don’t care I’m happy as I can be I feel alright now, people that ain’t it no dream That hand writing on the wall, I know just what it mean Descend the road that I got to hop, and hills to climb that I just can’t stop bear my burdens in the heat of the day, keep my chin up as I go along the way I feel alright now, people that ain’t it no dream That hand writing on the wall, I know just what it mean It’s hard to rise than it is to fall, hard to start than it is to stall If you never been that’ll underdog, you don’t know what it means to be high on the hog I’m doing alright now, people that it ain’t no dream That hand writing on the wall, I know just what it mean I know the world wouldn’t made it in one day, whole lotta things ain’t going my way I don’t care in this life, I’m doing I said alright I’m doing alright now, people that it ain’t no dream That hand writing on the wall, I know just what it mean I know the world wouldn’t made it in one day, I know the things ain’t going my way Whole lotta people don’t think like me, cause they ain’t had no misery I feel alright now, people that it ain’t no dream That hand writing on the wall, I know just what it mean It’s gonna be one awful time, it’s got to have no let it worry your mind First will be last and the last will be first, it’s gotta get better can’t get no worst I feel alright now, people that it ain’t no dream That hand writing on the wall, I know just what it mean I feel alright now, I feel alright now I feel alright, I feel alright, I feel alright Sonny I feel alright, I feel alright, I feel alright now I feel alright now, people got ain’t no dream That hand writing on the wall, I know just what it means

This is the Right Time, to do what I do right or wrong This is the Right Time, to do what I do right or wrong Well I don’t know the reason why, but baby, baby that’s what I’ve done My pillow smells like whiskey, like a barrel of Old Grand Dad My place is full of misery and I need to get out of here This is the Right Time, to do what I do right or wrong Well I don’t know the reason why, but baby, baby that’s what I’ve done I should take a cold cold shower, but the water has run out I should leave this kind of leaving before my soul starts to shout But this is the Right Time, to do what I do right or wrong Well I don’t know the reason why, but baby, baby that’s what I’ve done This is the Right Time, to do what I do right or wrong This is the Right Time, to do what I do right or wrong Well I don’t know the reason why, but baby, baby that’s what I’ve done (what I want) This is the Right Time This is the Right Time I don’t know the reason why, but baby, baby that’s what I’ve done

If you ever, ever been down Well, you know just how I feel Oh, Lord, I say you, you know just how I feel Oh, well, I feel just like an engine Ain't got no drivin' wheel Oh, Lord, I say, ain't got no drivin' wheel You don't believe, don't believe I'm sinkin' Look what a hole I'm in Oh, Lord, I say, look what a hole I'm in You don't believe, don't believe I love you Look what a fool I've been Oh, Lord, God knows what a fool I've been That's the way, the way I feel And I can't help but feel that way Oh, Lord, God knows I can't help but feel that way Well, it's your, your time now darlin' It'll be my time some sweet day Oh, Lord, God knows, be my time someday

The bossman was so mean, you know, I worked just like a slave Sixteen long hours drive you in your grave That's why I'm walkin', walkin' my blues away Well, the sun gonna shine, in my backdoor some day You can't plant cotton and expect to gather corn Can't take right peoples, and sure make it wrong That's why I'm walkin', walkin' my blues away Well, the sun gonna shine, in my backdoor some day I once had a car, it was painted white and black Couldn't keep up the payments, the man, he come and took it back That's why I'm walkin', walkin' my blues away Well, the sun gonna shine, in my backdoor some day I wouldn't tell a mule to get up, if he set down in my lap Yes, that's what killed my old grandpap That's why I'm walkin', walkin' my blues away Well, the sun gonna shine, in my backdoor some day I got them old coffee grounds in my coffee, big bo weavils in my fields Tacks in my shoes keep on stickin' me, in my heels That's why I'm walkin', walkin' my blues away Well, the sun gonna shine, in my backdoor some day You used to be my sweet milk, now, you sour on me Since we're not together, you're not sweet like you used to be That's why I'm walkin', walkin' my blues away Well, the sun gonna shine, in my backdoor some day Paper boy hollerin' extree, have you read the news Just shot the woman I love, got that walkin' blues That's why I'm walkin', walkin' my blues away Well, the sun gonna shine, in my backdoor some day

about

'We were honored to have been asked to write a few lines about the Suitcase Brothers’ tribute to Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee. It’s hard to pay homage to one’s heroes without coming off as a cheap imitation, a miniature version of the original, but this album sounds just like Sonny and Brownie and more. If you ever saw Sonny and Brownie in person, it would really rekindle those memories in an almost eerie kind of way.

Brownie McGhee was a team player and his team was Sonny Terry, who was like several people in one. Sonny could sing, he could entertain, and was extraordinarily funny and cute at the same time. It was a God-given gift. He was also kind of a musical bully, pushing Brownie around onstage, which Brownie fielded with grace, genius, and quiet resentment. In private they couldn’t stand each other but onstage they were as tight as two people could be. This brotherhood, this love of music and performing together, was the only thing they shared.

The Suitcase Brothers don’t have that divide. They’re united in the very same way Sonny and Brownie were because they bring out the joyful and playful presence that’s in the music. It’s the spirit in which the music is played and how they bring out that presence. In a gentle way it erases all other kinds of blues from your mind while you’re listening to it.

This album includes the virtuosic harmonica and vocal tricks that Sonny Terry used and the deceptively simple guitar techniques of Brownie McGhee, along with the feeling of warm harmony and actual brotherhood that Victor and Santos Puertas possess. They’re like Sonny and Brownie without the agita but there’s also much more to them. Their sound is soulful but it also puts you at ease. They’re not going to disappoint. They’re going to rock you in that Sonny and Brownie cradle.''
